1. Stop 1

Follow the aroma of food sizzling on hot griddles through Dotonbori and explore the smaller streets where Osaka’s love of good food is just as evident. Pause at snack counters, browse market displays, and settle into casual eateries with a local guide who helps you choose from tempting menus. Watch cooks at work, discover what goes into each dish, and taste the contrast between crisp fried bites, savory sauces, and traditional sweets. Before you meet, you’ll receive a short Personalization Form so we can tailor the experience to your interests and pair you with a local guide. Enjoy 8 sweet and savory local tastings and 2 drinks. The stops below are suggestions rather than a fixed route. Your local guide will adapt the experience to your preferences, chosen start time, venue opening hours, seasonal availability, and preferred pace.

2. Stop 2

Watch cooks turn takoyaki with quick flicks of a pick as batter takes shape in rows of rounded molds. Beneath Dotonbori’s oversized signs, these octopus bites are served hot, with a lightly browned exterior, a soft center, and a coating of savory sauce. Your local guide helps you choose a spot and explains the toppings as you take in the sounds and aromas around the food counters.

3. Stop 3

Step onto the stone paving around Hozenji Yokocho, where small shopfronts and narrow lanes offer a change of pace from Dotonbori. The area is associated with zenzai, a sweet azuki bean soup served with soft rice-flour dumplings. Appreciate its gentle sweetness as your local guide shares the dessert’s connection to this historic corner of Osaka. The nearby temple and traditional façades add character to the setting.

4. Stop 4

A hot griddle, a turn of the spatula, and the aroma of browning batter bring okonomiyaki to life in Sennichimae. Shredded cabbage and savory fillings cook into a thick pancake, finished with a glossy sauce and toppings that vary by recipe. Your local guide helps you explore the choices and explains why flour-based dishes, known as konamon, hold such a special place in Osaka’s cooking. It’s an opportunity to appreciate the preparation as much as the taste.

5. Stop 5

Seafood displayed over ice, colorful produce, and trays of Japanese sweets make Kuromon’s covered aisles a feast for the eyes. Browse with your local guide, pausing where something catches your attention, from seafood cooking on a grill to soft rice cakes at a confectionery counter. Learn about the ingredients on display and enjoy tastings selected around your preferences and the stalls open during your visit.

6. Stop 6

Tucked behind Namba’s main streets, compact eateries bring you close to the counters and kitchens where food is prepared. Discover kushikatsu, skewers of vegetables, meat, or seafood fried in a light breadcrumb coating. The crisp exterior gives way to a different flavor with each choice. Your local guide helps you select a combination that suits your tastes and introduces the customs of enjoying a few bites and a drink in these casual neighborhood spots.
