9. Stop 9

This is one of Kyoto's premier spots for viewing Japanese maples, offering a spectacular sight of lush green foliage in the spring and a breathtaking expanse of crimson leaves in the autumn. It also captivates visitors with its unique, steeply sloping corridor—known as the *Garyuro* (Crouching Dragon Corridor)—which curves like a dragon's body.

10. Stop 10

Boasting the tallest five-story pagoda in Kyoto, the temple features magnificent collections of Buddhist statues enshrined within its Lecture Hall and Golden Hall. It is also beautifully illuminated at night depending on the season; the sight of cherry blossoms or vibrant autumn foliage—along with the pagoda itself—reflecting in the garden pond creates an even more stunning spectacle.

11. Stop 11

This mountain temple, nestled in the mountains, is a popular spot for foreign visitors to Japan, boasting numerous statues of Rakan (Buddhist saints). It's also close to Arashiyama and often included in a stroll through Sagano.

12. Stop 12

Although it is a small temple often chosen for strolls through Sagano, it is renowned for its moss; in autumn, the fallen leaves, turning red, stand out beautifully against the carpet of green.

13. Stop 13

This is one of the seminal temples of Buddhism. Established as a center for transmitting Esoteric Buddhism from Tang Dynasty China, it served as a place of training and study for the founders of various Buddhist sects, facilitating the spread of Buddhism in many directions. Situated at an altitude of 1,000 meters, the air is noticeably cooler than in the world below, and the atmosphere is one of profound tranquility.
